Q&A on CPD Accredited Training

12th September 2016

Derek Portsmouth, National Sales Leader UK&Eire, discusses some educational work currently being done by NOTIFIER.

Derek Portsmouth, National Sales Leader UK & Ireland at Notifier by Honeywell joined Honeywell in 2008 as National Business Manager for Gent by Honeywell and took over his present role as Notifier sales leader in 2009. Derek has previously held a number of senior positions within the Fire and Security Industry and believes that a brand has to offer added value to its customers through the products and services that it provides. Derek now works with a team of very dedicated business managers who between them have a wealth of experience to share and support customers.

Part of Derek's role is managing the growing range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses currently available through Notifier by Honeywell. Over the years Derek has seen many individuals within the industry struggle to find the time to keep up to date with the latest changes and developments in the fire safety industry and he knows the importance of today's business environment to stay at the cutting edge. Due to this, Notifier by Honeywell has developed a series of CPD accredited courses addressing some of the key topics in fire safety and legislation today. These complimentary seminars can be arranged at a time and place to suit you.

If you are new to the fire industry or Notifier by Honeywell, then Derek tells us a little bit more about the CPDs and what is currently available to consultants and end users keen to learn more.

Who are the courses aimed at?

Anyone from electrical contractors to consultants, through to end users. The CPDs are aimed at individuals or groups who express a keen interest in learning more about the fire industry and the changes in legislation. We have a team of six people that are certified to deliver the CPDs on a national level. Over the last 7 years, we have provided training for over 1,000 participants.

How long do the courses take?

Typically the short courses last an hour. As time is precious, seminars can be held at any workplace, and timings can be tailored to suit the needs of the individuals. We fit around busy calendars and usually participate in lunchtime slots. We can also host the courses at our Lewes or Leicester offices.

Do you cover all of the UK?

Yes, anyone from the Highlands of Scotland to the southwestern tip. We also cover Ireland and Wales.

What is the cost of a CPD?

They are free to the participants. Ideally, the courses would work well with a small group of individuals and teams within a company.
